Swedish webhosting - any links?

I would like to refute that statement (the cheaper side - the slower side, while also true, isn't toooo much of an issue unless, in my experience, you have a >2mbit/sec connection, in which case download speeds will suffer) :)

I can always max out my 2mbit connection downloading from my shared US server :/

I also like wget'ing things from it, to see the "13MB transferred in 5 seconds" that I'll never see on a home connection :(

I guess it's just crappy Blueyonder for me then...then again if you use multiple connections it's a moot point as you'll whack out the full speed.

And yeah, that's fun - especially downloading from MS who often have an Akamai node nearby :D

It's kind of depressing to go back to 2mbit afterwards though :(

I hope I get into my first choice of uni so I get JANET in my room :o

I miss my days of having JANET.
We had access to it when I worked for the British Antactic Survey and to say performance and speed is amazing is an understatement.

However, and I could be wrong, but isn't one of the reasons it is so good is that they do restrict a lot of what you can and cannot do on their network?
I'd love to be at university and have a JANET connection to my room for the shear speed.
However don't they say no to gaming and other activities which many a university person would want to do?

I wonder what sort of connection Plymouth has. I'll be finding out in exactly two months

stoofa - yup, universities will restrict what happens on their networks, probably regardless of whether they use JANET or not :)

Yeah, gaming and P2P is out of the question AFAIK but I don't really do much of that anyway. It'd just be nice to have blisteringly high speed HTTP/FTP speeds :)
