Swiftcover - Cracked windscreen

Swiftcover have been the cheapest for me for the last few years but have really tried to rip me off on my renewal this year. Quoted me £566 for my 2.5 Z4  Shopped about and got it for £240 through Admiral so it seems Swiftcover are going downhill fast lately. So it really doesn't surprise me they are being sneaky with their windscreen policy also.

Swiftcover were cheapest for me this year so I went with them. The windscreen rule didn't/doesn't bother me as I already have 12 years NCB, so am not fussed if I have to claim and don't get another.

I think if I had maybe 4 or less years I would have had second thoughts on using them.

Problem is coming renewal time they give you a certificate for 4 not 5 years NCB and most insurers won't give you the extra year back as far as I know.

Most insurers don't effect your NCB with a glass claim. I don't really mind swift is different on this matter, I'm stuck with it, my real question was which would be better - paying myself or claiming. Looks like claiming is the better option.

I had this palava with Swiftcover - claimed for a windscreen (two, actually) and they froze the NCB for one year, effectively taking a year off me. Come renewal, I switched insurers to Greenlight.

When I explained the situation to them, they were pretty shocked about the Swiftcover windscreen terms. So they said, if I could provide evidence of my NCB at the time I switched from a previous insurer to Swiftcover, they would simply ignore the missing year and carry on my NCB record as if SC hadn't taken a year off me

Hopefully other insurers might be the same.
