I took the plunge with water at last and bought the swiftech kit on saturday and set it up in a few hours. I just have the radiator leant next to my pc for now with the side off.

Im not too imressed with temps Im getting though as my opty 165 is climbing up to 47deg and failing prime at 2.835Mhz when it was stable at 51deg @ 2800 with my arctic cooler. I was kind of hoping it would be around 40 deg, my room temp is only 15deg so im a bit puzzled. The water is very frothy and ive been told to leave the cap off the res for a few hours to let the air clear, 3 days on and its still frothy :( Could this be the problem ?

When Im priming all the water tuble, res and rad get warm to touch, is this normal ?

Does anyone have any tips to get my temps down.

Cheers

What rad and fan? Can you feel air coming through the radiator? To get rid of the froth you need to let the air settle out of the water and if the water is flowing too fast it won't settle. If you have a reservoir, you could put a little bit of sponge near the inlet which will slow down the water in the res.

Secondly, is it quieter than before? Was that one of you goals? If it is quieter but you want it cooler, get a more powerful fan.

The rad is the one that come with the kit with duel fans ( as in this thread)
I can feel warm air coming through the radiator slightly, if i wet my finger .

I can try the sponge near the inlet, I will need to take the tubing off thre inlet, how do you use to get the tubing off the barbs? It was hard work getting it on after heating the tube in boiling water i cant see myself just pulling it off ?

I only got the water to lower my temps, Im not bothered about noise much.

only took mine 10 mins of running the pump at slowest speed to remove all the bubbles and the water to become pure. if its still frothy there might be an air leak somewhere. do you use jubilee clips around all the tubing to clamp it nice and securely or just use the crappy plastic ones that came with the kit?

the other thing you might wanna try is flipping the case over to get rid of any bubbles in the waterblock and radiator. i just lifted my case up and span it in my hands. seemed to find a few hidden bubbles :) oh the other thing is when it says tighten the things into the block and res with the o-rings with your hands...well mine leaked after being off for about 4 hours. i had to get pliers onto the job which sorted itout. that was another cause of bubbles in the water.

10 mins at low speed did the job for the frothyness :) though theres still a frothy head on the res. Ive bumped it back up to full whack and it went a bit murkier so still some air in there. I found one of the barbs had started leaking before, luckily it was on the res and not the block, ill get the plyers onto them myself.
Now that main frothyness has gone my temps priming are 44 deg so thats 3 degrees cooler already :) duel priming at 2835 now for 42 mins, always failed at 21mins before (fingers crossed)

What duel prime temps are you getting with a duel core ?

If your askin me mate i havnt overclocked and dont inted to really

I have given them a shake but no air seems to come out. I ran it overnight on the lowest pump setting and it was really clear when i got home from work, i then knocked it back up to max and its all gone cloudy again and the res has gathered a froth.

is the res filled up to where it should be ? if not it will be sucking air in with the water - needs to be above the line around the res.

alternatively you could have something stuck in 1 of the jets in the storm block.

i run mine about 1cm below the top :p never get any froth or bubbles at all. it needs to be a bit higher than they say when you run the pump on full i think. well i had to fill it up more anyway

i just used a hair dryer to get the tubing on , sounds like a seating or rad placement issue i have mine to the left of my case and side panel off on an old xp120 heatsink and coolmaster led fan was getting about 60/63c with both cores on my x2 3800 under full load at 2.35ghz at 1.4v now with the the same wc kit but with lower cfm and quieter coolmaster led fans i get 40/43c under full load but at 1.63v 2.6ghz , so somthing is up someware , try refiiting the waterblock and or having the rad standing up and to the left of your ex take fan on your case with the panel off like i have

I found the Swiftech tubing and inserts a real pain to use in the push-fit connectors on the rad until I tried using some KY Jelly
