SwiftFox

it is just firefox with some settings changed to speed it up. Works fine, no reason to use firefox in preference to it.

It's also compiled for specific processors so *should* run smoother and quicker if you download the correct one. Not used it myself but I might have a look.

I used it.. I have found it render's pages twice as fast for me (in a benchmark i tried).. it has many optimizations.

Download this page: http://scragz.com/tech/mozilla/test-rendering-time
Save it as a file (File --> Save as..)
Then try loading it in both browsers.. I am also about to try opera.

I got about 2.4 seconds in normal 64bit firefox on my core2duo and 1 second with swiftfox.

Edit: 64bit opera got 1.5 seconds but it feels very snappy.. opera is a nice browser!

Thanks for the link Rich

Bear in mind I'm running on a very low spec laptop. FF under windows takes 5 seconds and Opera 4.5, Under Xubuntu both are within a gnats crotchet of 3 seconds.

edit Swiftfox is typically 0.1 of a second quicker. I really must upgrade this poor old beast :D
