Oh I never said that... the main reason I like Vista at the mo is I can run apps on it that I can't on OS X... the VPN is a serious problem for me though, cos when connected to VPN on Leopard I have no internet (regardless of the "Send Traffice over VPN" checkbox). That is bad, as I'm on VPN a lot during the day!
 
May I ask what programs you're missing exactly? Surely they are available on Windows or there are alternatives available? Seeing as you have spent the time building a PC it seems a bit silly to end up out of pocket for the sake of having a Mac.
 
most of the time there is a windows alternative of an OSX app.. what are you missing in particular?

dont blame the OS before youve gotten used to it. you wouldnt **** off a new car because it didnt feel or work in exactly the same way its its predecessor... ;)

What is Windows performance like with your 8 core monster?
 
TOAD for Oracle (http://www.quest.com/toad/), trust me, theres no alternative for that! It's also a VERY expensive piece of software, so ewven if there was a OS X alternative... I'd have to get it purchased again, that might not go down well :)

I could use Oracle SQL Developer, but its not got nearly as many functions (DBA functions specifically) that TOAD does.

I'm a Web Developer by the way, and I'm using Oracle a lot at the moment. Once this huge project is over, I'll be back to MySQL probably, now that isn;t a problem on OS X!

Oh I never slagged off the OS, I've used OS X for 3 years now... but I used WIndows longer before that, and I went back for the reason above, and started getting use to Windows again. I like OS X and WIndows equally, just I'm liking Windows at the moment cos I'm using it more :)

Very good... plus the 6GB RAM helps too :) I needed 64Bit VIsta for that.

I've never used all 8 Cores from what I can see yet, but its very fast! Vista runs more stable on my Mac Pro via boot camp than it did on my PC... proves that Apple's hardware is second to none!

The alternatives are just no way near as good. I"m a web designer btw :) Please don't say dreamweaver is the alternative.
The plus of the pc is Photoshop has never run better.

Hmm maybe I did, eitherway, I use Windows at the moment for TOAD, theres no equiv to that on OS X. Once I have finished that I will go back to OS X... Just pointing out theres nothing wrong with WIndows :)
