Hi guys got a few questions about switching my graphics card from my old 280x to a nvidia 1080.

1. I wondered if it's best to do a full windows 10 install or if I can just use a program to remove drivers of old card?

2. What drivers are best for the 1080? I need overwatch to work correctly.

3. I haven't used the nvidia control panel in years is there any settings/tweeks I need to enable for everyday gaming.

4. I will be using fast sync is it just as simple as a tick box?

5. As I'm on 1080p 60hz I will probably have more frames than I need so which frame limiter should I use and what should I limit it to when I use fast sync (I heard more frames the better with fast sync)

thanks

As Quartz said, just remove the old card and pop in the new card. You can use DDU whilst the old card is still in if you want rid of the smelly AMD drivers (good move), install the new shiny 1080 and install the latest drivers from NVidia. Fast Sync is a simple tick box and works well for me on my 3440x1440 screen and no tearing. You have options in the NCP for enable optimal performance or prefer best quality (I always have that now) and everything else is pretty straight forward. Use Geforce Experience for things like SHadowPlay (I always have that on in case I want to record) or Ansel for taking some epic screenshots in game that have that option.

Ok thanks gregster

Right so got card in but got a couple of minor problems.

1. Colours are very washed out blacks are grey in game.

2. When game launched it switched from 1080p to 1080i?

A few things.

Ensure full range of RGB is enabled. It can be set to limited by default.

Ensure the desired resolution is selected in the nvidia panel. About 2/3 down look for resolution.

Yeah every things good now thanks I enabled the rgb and turned digital vibrance up 5% looks good now.

Not sure why it was going into 1080i in stopped doing in now. It was when I first booted the game up some nvidia thing would pop up down bottom right of my screen saying something like game detected then my tv would switch to 1080i.

Always found issues when trying to use a TV when gaming via PC.

Try a different display cable/port? eg displayport instead of HDMI?

I think I will be ok I just to setup windows colour management to load the nvidia settings and not override them on boot.

Also I can only use HDMI because the dolby digital 5.1 goes through my home cinema.
