I've had my fun with the Clio 182, but my new job requires 300-360 miles a week, and it's not on a brilliant road.

I'm also trying to budget at the moment and with an MOT and Aux belt service looming, £250~ a year road tax and £650~ a year insurance, I'd like to step into the run it to the ground (diesel?) category.

What roughly would I be looking at getting part ex and a bit of cash?

Clio is a 55 plate with both cup packs, 92k, good condition, full history. Due its aux belt at 96k.

Pick a budget, nobody knows what your car is worth without its age etc, you should easily get more privately for a 182 though they're a pretty popular car

Age is in there. I picked it up for £2.8k with 72 on the clock last April, I wouldn't like to guess as to what I'd get now. £1700-2000?

It is used a fair bit at the weekends and at other times.

For example I put about 15,000 miles on from April to April and I was living less than 5 miles from work. I'm now 30 miles away.

My issue is, I'm now on a tight budget and with my insurance, tax and MOT all staggered, and the fact my last MOT and service was around £500, I'm feeling the hit every so often.

Maybe that's just motoring and I need to earn more?

If its too much its too much, just change it for something of the same order of value that you feel more comfortable running

Whilst I love cars I'd never let one take up all of my cash, regardless of salary - some things are more important
