Hey Guys,

I am currently with ZEN internet on their top package, however this only gives me 100GB a month.

Now i am finding it increasingly hard to monitor this usage and last 2months have hit this and then exceeded it by paying for extra.

This is due to watching a lot of HD content (Love Film etc), gaming, Xbox Game Downloads, newsgroups (My buisness organisation use this for uploading large 3d CAD files, which i download/upload regularly for work etc) which uses about 20GB's a month.

Now i am looking around for different ISP's such as SKY or O2 however these looking like true UNLIMITED packages, but are they? really?

Also some mention traffic shaping, would this effect my use of newsgroups for work downloads?

What would be the best in peoples opinions for getting a true unlimited with the least restrictions on Traffic shaping?

Many Thanks.

Sky LLU unlimited is truly unlimited as far as I can tell. I've regularly gone over 100GB, sometimes over 200GB and never noticed any drop in speed or incurred additional charges.

It has to be LLU though. The rebranded BT wholesale connect product is one of the worst out there. If your exchange doesn't have sky/easynet don't even think about it.

Thank Tealc for that. How can you tell if you are being offered LLU?

When i check on their site, i am offered :

1. Broadband Everyday Lite - great for daily browsing and online shopping
2. Broadband Unlimited - perfect for downloading music and movies

Speeds of 2.6-7mbps.

Many thanks.

On Samknows it states Sky/Easynet is enabled. So do i have to ask to be on their LLU scheme when i order BB from them?

Or will it just put my on their true on UNLIMITED service?

Have you had experience of their traffic shaping on torrents and newsgroups?

Thanks

There should be a tick on the box, near top of page for LLU services available.

If sky is in LLU box on bottom right of page, & is ticked, then you have it.

As far as I know if you only had the option of Sky Connect you'd only see the one option. They don't offer it to you if you can get their LLU packages, which both of the above belong to. Obviously you are only looking at the Unlimited one.

I have never noticed traffic shaping on torrents. I get slow downloads sometimes but that's probably more to do with the number of seeders than bandwidth throttling. When I get a popular torrent it downloads at the max speed my connection allows which is around 20Mbit/s. I've never used Newsgroups.

Oh thanks for that, well seems SKY looks the way to go.

Only last thing, do you need to use their supplied router? or can i still use my NETGEAR?
