Anyone switch from one fiber supplier to another? How long does the transfer normally take and does the white open reach fiber modem stuck on the wall need rebooting?

Apart from plusnet i think most isps these days will send you a integrated modem hub to replace the seperate white modem

I am moving from bt to plusnet, I know bt own plusnet not sure how that affects things. I voted not to pay the £7 for the plusnet router.

Can it take a few hours to switch like adsl or is it more quick? Like 30min?

Looks like it may take 48 hours to switch over. Seems a bit excessive.

Is this normal, still not activated. They said by text that it should be activated by midnight tonight. I would have expected it to be activated some time today. Anyone switched that can tell me how long it took for them?

What router are you using and have you changed the PPPoE username/password?

I have not got the message from the isp yet to say it's active.

They said in the message not to turn on the router.

I use pfsense but that's not issue because it's not active yet.

Question is realy around people experience with switching vdsl and how long the activation takes.

I do wonder why it takes so long. I think it probably could have been done within the hour of switching the phone over, technically. I don't actually know for sure though why I asked.

I moved from TalkTalk fibre to Plusnet and it was down for about 15 minutes. I didn't receive a confirmation until hours after I'd started using the new connection. I don't recall having to do anything with the fibre modem, although I'm not sure about that.

Strange.

My internet stopped working at 12:30 am and then I got a notification that my phone had been switched over at 9am. So you think it might be working I have just not configured correctly?

I put the login and password with plusdsl.net it was always on pppoe and not working.

I was hoping for a quick transition considering it took me 3 months to get it working with bt years ago.

Just relating what happened with me really. If you've entered the username and password correctly there's not much else you can do. You can try rebooting the OR modem - can't really do any harm.

Simply sign up to any of our packages and once you've joined us, we'll contact your old provider for you and your move will take a minimum of 10 working days.

Just found that on plus net site. Basically I think I should be grateful I don't have to try contact bt and 2 days is optimistic.

It was still not activated by this morning, the order status said still doing line tests. So i called them up and the woman on the phone said its not activated and didn't know why because it should be. Then she activated it and the status changed to complete on the order status. So hopefully its working now, will find out this evening.

All working now, getting 7.8mbyte second which is full speed.
