Hey guys.

Looking for some help on what to do now.

I am currently on a AMD2 motherboard with an Athlon x2 6000+. This seriously needs updating.

I was thinking about getting a Phenom in there but now that AMD have basically come out and said they give up should I switch over to Intel.

I was looking at the Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge), seems to be about the best you are going to get for that price range, am I correct?

What motherboard should I be looking at getting for that CPU?

So am I right in thinking that I should be switching over and if so what motherboard and CPU should I be looking at?

Forgot to mention, my PSU is OCZ ModXStream 500W
 
Intel are a rip off. I bought my chip and mobo for the price of a (not that much more powerful) i5.

But you are posting on a [bend over for] intel forum so guess what answers you are going to get...!

Lol, if you want to class educated opinions on making wise *current* tech desicions as bending over... does that make you a bit gay? :p

Whats your budget? And what do you use your computer for, mainly?
You'll be looking at new ram as well as a new mobo and cpu if you are going to change.

How about providing a budget? Do you require a GPU? What about case? Are you keeping the old one or starting a fresh.

300ish give or take.

Want to play a few more higher grade games on it and a lot more multi tasking.

New RAM really?
 
However, you do require new RAM.
You can get 8GB for around 25 quid depending where you look.

EDIT : I honestly could do any recommendations on here.
200 for a 2500k is a blatant rip off.

Ok so sticking with my current GPU. I am looking at a new Mobo. The i5 2500k and some 8mb RAM?

What sort of Mobo should I be looking at?
