switching to mac

Is that £679 imac the basic one? If it is , then the GPU is the intel chipset one. Whilst Aperture will run successfully on that, I would advise getting the next model iMac up, the one with the ATI X1600 GPU. I have Aperture running well on both my MacBook Pro and my girlfriends iMac 17" (with ATI and 1GB memory).

If you want to run CS then it will shortly be launched with full MacIntel support (as CS3..it's in beta at the moment).

If you are happy using PC, then stick with it, but I am glad I made 'the switch'. I have spent less time looking for upgrades, and more time actually using it.

Yeah, that's a funny thing. Now i've had my MacBook for 7months or so, i've never once thought about upgrades to it. Whereas with my PC i remember always wanting something new as it just wasn't 'right'!

I have a PC CS2, can I take my licence to a MAC CS3 upgrade?

PS. I have the windows CS3 beta
Duuno, are Mac licences different? I would have thought your PC CS2 licence would enable the CS3 beta? I haven't tried yet... as my MacBook isn't here yet!

I made the switch and got a Macpro closely followed by a 24" iMac, and I love them both, I now only have 1 Windows based PC for gaming and im going to be replacing that soon with another Macpro running a Bootcamped XP.

Not really much help to you, but, i recommend spending a few hours in an Apple store and play with one for a while, that way you can see how you get along with the interface.

firstly thanks for all of your replies. really appreciate it.

i've had a good play on a friends imac and i just cant get on with it - navigation, mouse etc. just silly things really. It looks great tho. plus I was looking at the base model imac, which it seems isnt the fastest thing around (obviously) and for the cash it seems I could get a pc with a far better spec...see my second thread!

once again thanks a lot.

It will seem strange to start with, but you just can't judge it unless you've tried it properly (ie. your main computer) for at least a week :)
