Switching to RWD

If I 'wanted' to I could spin the wheels in my old 330CI easily enough, when I first had the car and I had just come from a diesel to it, it was the winter of 2006 and I was constantly getting the traction control on by accident, pulling away on greasy round-abouts and out of side turns etc, after a week or so I got used to the very different power delivery and it stopped happening, as I was more carefull with the throttle. Even so though, a spirited pull away would flash the TC lights easy enough in the wet.

In the dry on a good surface it took a bit more effort, but I could do it if I wanted to, certainly if I planted it from a standing start with the tc/dsc off the whole car would squirm as it fought for traction.

The car had plenty of grip, but it wasn't that difficult to 'make' it lose it, I'm sure the same must be true of the 328.

As has been said by a few of us, no TC etc. and not too good tyres means even with normal driving rwd cars can kick out the back end. I've not driven an MX-5 though so don't know how stable they are.

My Silvia didnt (or 200sx 1.8 turbo), my Granada didnt (2.8) and neither of them had traction control.
In fact, neither of the two sierras I've had have done it either (2.0GLsi, 1.8), very strange.

TVR Griffith 500, summer shower, A5 at Norton Canes (by the old pub now curry house for those who know it) and showing a mate how quick my new car was. Pulled an overtake and as I booted it one wheel hit the white line and I had.........THE TANK SLAPPER FROM HELLLLLLLLLLL

He said "bit quick and hairy these" and I responded with "I WANT MY MUMMY"

Never driven a RWD car but on the way home a guy in a 330ci got the back end right out by accident(from the look on his face). That was just coming off a roundabout with a funny camber. He used to have a quick impreza before it aswell!

You missed a crucial part of my post...about crap tyres. ;)

Someone do it and make it close by, then I'll attend this one :D

It'll be where it always is. We get a massive discount, plus it's fairly central, allowing for lots of people to be able to attend. If you think Tewkesbury is too far then that's your problem, I've driven further as do most members.

I have no idea where it usually is and because of that, had no idea it was 1in Tewkesbury...hence my original suggestion!

a friend of mine went from a 90bhp micra to a 350bhp 200sx and has been fine, just take it easy while getting used to how the car handles.

as has been said before :)

Try overtaking someone and hit a thick painted white line in the wet, when you are looking at the side of the drivers head into there car though your windscreen, you soon realise things aren't quite right.

LSDs will put the power to wheel with the most grip, not ideal when one is virtually on ice and the other is on a fairly grippy road surface. It tends to have an interesting yaw effect on the car!

Yep i'll join that club, it happened to me twice, pulled out to overtake as i did increased the power, one wheel got caught on the white line, LSD locked now i'm going sideways whilst overtaking someone, kinda fun but not when you have a huge drop and a stone wall to your right!
