Switching to RWD

No idea :p could be because of the difference in car/weight/engine/suspension etc?

Don't think it's tyres as I got spin on the old PS2s as well.

You wont notice the difference.
I've had a mixture of FF, AWD and RWD cars over the years, in normal driving, you dont feel any difference, even spirited driving wont be any different .

It only differs when the going gets hard, or its Icy.

You have no power though...I don't get how you can do it. :p

I got spin on the crap tyres, but with the F1s on I don't get any unless I'm on a loose surface...which is good fun actually as at TLGPs I get a great launch, loads of power down at once. :D ...just a shame the engine is basically dead now. :(

As has been said by a few of us, no TC etc. and not too good tyres means even with normal driving rwd cars can kick out the back end. I've not driven an MX-5 though so don't know how stable they are.

Meh I don't know, all I know is that it spins at 4k :p on the occasion makes for interesting happenings when leaving the crossways on my road :p

And I'll keep my Ci :p

Really though, it's probably due to your higher rev range, my redline is 7k I assume yours goes to 8/9k ?

VAN0S y0! actually all of them have Vanos and Valvetronic so that won't be it :p Gotta be the suspension/weight distribution tbh!

Yeah, still seems odd your low power car can do them better than mine...but then mine doesn't exactly have a huge amount of power these days. :p

The hunt is on for a replacement though...saw some nice e46s...then remembered I don't have like £5k. :(

I'm using Vpower, everyone knows it's instant +20BHP.

There! mystery solved :)

Still only get ~160bhp with mine having ~200bhp. :p

Now solve the mystery of what car (BMW) I can get next for not very much at all that is less likely to break than mine. :p

With stock 190Bhp of yours, given age and general E36 shoddyness (hehe) I predict you probably have less HP than mine :p - a more sensible solution!

Torque numbers aren't that far apart given the small weight difference (200nm vs 280)

I got 206bhp on the rollers and was up by a small amount of torque at 288nm...all taken with a pinch of salt, so it was running about stock...which is impressive for a car that was on it's way to giving up. :D

You'll be fine I went from ~130hp FWD to my first RWD (355HP). You could book yourself on a low friction track or something to get used to the car when it does oversteer. Some advice from the instructor on my recent driving day, imagine a piece of string attached to your right thumb and your right toe. When the wheel is turned you foot comes off the accelerator in proportion to how much steering lock you have and only when the wheel is straight do you want full throttle.

Theoretically. I've never come across a white line that is large enough to remove enough tyre surface area from the actual tarmac. Then again, I have large cross-section rears.

You have to remember the paint also has a thickness, sometime a lot of thickness. So the tyre footrpint may well be wider than the line yet only actually has grip with a narrow line.
