Yep, 'cept the first time it was posted was before you were a member.

Maybe less of the "sarcasm" before pressing "post" would stop you looking a toilet?

Gilly could you pass me some tissues there are coffee everywhere! :D

Seeing as some people haven't seen the last video. Mucho Sucko posted this video today. The sword vs. the 50.cal Machine gun.

It does better than I thought it would :)

Thing is, what would you rather have in a fight, a katana or a 50 cal.

I'll take the machine gun please. :)

because it was before he was a member is no excuse!!!!
everyone should know to check if somthings been posted, a seach for bullet and sword would bring up that thread.

Oh stop whining, that post was half way through a 7 page thread. Dead easy to miss it.

Back on topic, impressive videos. The machine gun devastates the sword after a few bullets though.

I think I'll register removedbygilly.com :p

Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen the vid before.

I'd seen a video of swords and knives slicing bullets on one of those Discovery channel programs which was talking about Bullet proof jackets.

Seems Bullet Proof Jacket are a lot easier to make than stab proof.

The Contact surface area for a sharp knife / sword is a lot less than the contact area of a bullet when they hit each other, and most bullets are made from a low quality metal (except armour peircing), compared to the top quality tempered steels used in blades.

A Good video i saw was a kitchen knife being stabbed though riot jackets and bullet proof vests. Seems the only think that stops a blade is solid thick chunks of tempered metal or ceramic plates.

I don't think anything has bettered the good old fashioned chainmail for stab protection, problem is it is too heavy.

Remember that most bullets are a soft metal like lead coated in brass (full metal Jacket) So any strong, high tensile metal would do that to a bullet. I for one hadn't seen that vid either, but its pretty cool!

Chain mail good for slashing attacks, but peircing / stabbing attacks, tend to get into the links and they break, plate mails the daddy.

Stab prevention needs solid chunks. Chainmail was fairly feeble against stuff like Arrows, but all you really need to be immune to all weapons is Holywood white teeth and a really bad fake English accent.

Chainmain was best used round joints under the plate mail... a sword striking the plate would side off and would then be slicing at the mail undershirt at the inside elbow or shoulder... because the sword would now we slashing the chain stopped any ill effects from the user. Damn heavy though.

Excuse my ignorance but what does "sic" mean?
In the context I used it meant a mistake written intentionally, or something I'm quoting has been left in its original form.

in the context i use it, it's to indicate that i've posted.
More specifically, it indicates that you have posted, and that is how you posted it.

Re: the OP - I would be more impressed by a bullet being split on the volley, by a swinging sword.

[Edit]

A sword being swung - not one that throws its keys into the middle.

yes, i dont think anyone would have interpreted that as a sword that likes to have sex with other sword's wives. i could be wrong though.

You never know - Excalibur was well known for indulging in a bit of how's-your-father with the neighbour's other half.
