SWTOR without Origin

You might want to let EA peek at EVERY single program and file you have on your Hard drive, then transmit that information back to EA, who then SELL that information to any tom, dick or harry that waves 10p in EA's general direction.

Ok, so you might want to do that, but on the other hand, most sensible people don't like EA doing this, and so will refuse to have anything to do with Origin whatsoever.

you might not want to let steam do it either in the guise of VAC but it does it

NOWHERE. Not anywhere in the EULA does it say that it scans every single thing on your hard drives. It is not looking through files and folders to find things, opening up your documents to see if you've got anything hidden in them.

Now it is possible, that EA might have changed Origin since then, but I doubt it, and given EA's track record of riding roughshod over gamers rights, I'd rather not give it the benefit of the doubt.

Steam only does that if you REQUEST it to do so.

Origin will do it regardless of whether you want it to or not.

BIG difference.

I must have read a dozen of those articles with attention grabbing title that claim one thing or another and them provid no evidence apart from to attribute it off to another article, which palms of the proving to another article, which says its read something in the EULA that could be taken one way, or that some Bulgarian hacker found something and sent in a postcard...

Here's a challenge for youo. Open Resource Monitor on your own PC, switch to the tab that shows you exactly which files applications have their fingers into, and launch Origin. If you find it looking through files that it shouldn't be.. Take a screenshot and post it.

Also VAC has never asked me for permission to do anything.

Really? Can you back that up, Please find the part in their terms and conditions that allows them to be as intrusive as Origin, Also windows has a reason to scan all those files, Origin has absolutely no reason to be scanning my hard drives

Have you actually read the new EA EULA instead of believing made up stories?

I will put the link up if you want but cannot do so at the moment as am at work.
