after succesfully setting up a x-fire in my SD37, my interest has been rekindled in Shuttles up-coming "flagship"

I would really like to get a q6600 running as close as possible to 400fsb and the SD37 maxes out at 366 so in reality I see this as a waste.

It would also be nice to run 4 x 1 gig sticks of ram and overclock my cpu, again something that is nigh on impossible with my V1 SD37p2 :(

So, does anyone [preferably Si] have any real idea of availability ?

I've heard before Christmas, but that's coming up in a couple of weeks, so...

Take a punt at availability somewhere in February, to be honest. Maybe January. And expect to pay in body parts or portions of your soul to pay for it.

Add to that what I expect to be not particularly impressive overclocking capacity and as a prospect, it's distinctly underwhelming (my cynicism is born of the adulation surrounding the launch of the SD35P which turned out to be a rubbish overclocker from what I've read).

I would keep your current rig and stick two Radeon 3870XTs in it, fully upgrading when Nehalem rears its supposedly beastly head.

Any news on this?

I'm returning my SP35P2 for a refund since I found out the onboard audio is not capable of DTS Connect/DD Live (as advertised!). Apparently Shuttle have changed the specs and not told anybody (the box my SP35 came in still advertises these features) so I'm now itching to get my hands on the SX38 instead, which does have these features.

I wish I'd waited a bit longer and ordered it from OCUK now too, as somebody's customer service is a pain in the ass, and I've always had great service from here.

As an aside, can anyone from OCUK confirm if they have any intention of offering finance packages like certain other retailers do in future? I always place smaller orders with OCUK, but you're missing out on bigger orders since i pay for them on finance - for £20 you get interest free credit for 9 months, and no additional charges if you settle before repayments start. OCUK have probably missed out on about £5,000 worth of my money over the last few years!

The sad thing is, I'd go with OCUK every time otherwise - top notch service, always.

Id remove the competitor mate, as much as Id like to name and shame them myself over my SP35P2 purchase. Ill never use that company again. Bought 2 items in one order, a dead on arrival SP35P2, and a supposed user damaged HDD they refused to replace.

Mind you, I did get it for £280 on release day, and Im still yet to see it that cheap.

I've managed to pick one up B-grade (upon initial inspection it seems in top nick :D) for just over £200 and am currently pondering what to fill it with.

Suggestion noted! I'm not holding out much hope of them refunding me for my SP35 then, regardless of the fact it is both faulty and not capable of all the features listed on the box!

Think I maybe getting my credit card company to claim back off them and refund me at this rate.

I take it there's no sign of SX38's on these shores then? By the time this debacle is over all my components will be obsolete!

I've just had solid info on these, stock arriving in UK about 10 days so I expect them to be here within the next 2 weeks. Pricing around £305+VAT

Si

Cheers for the info Si! I'm guessing these will go like hot cakes - any idea how long before you get the pre-order page up?

I really don't wanna miss out on getting one of these ASAP - it'll ease the pain over my current SP35 situation nicely :)
