Sync folder over network

You could look at FreeFileSync and the extra app called RealTimeSync.

RealtimeSync watches a folder or set of folders and as soon as something is altered, it runs a syncing routine to sync to whereever you like.

You could give Windows Live Sync a try.

Just been on the dropbox forums and looked for a "LAN only" sync. Someone suggested WL Sync.

Though to be honest if you aren't hopping between two computers all day, I would just let it sync at a regular interval with robocopy/syntoy. No point going to the extra trouble if you're on one machine at a time only.

You could also add an extra trigger to the scheduled tasks for the sync to happen at logon - so you can be sure you're folder(s) is up to date any time you log in to another machine.

:D

Not sure what the guy meant about DropBox "needing" to use the online servers. If anything it is a thousand times easier to sync to a folder on the same LAN.
