Syncing photos between two iOS devices and a PC

Plus, isn't photostream both limited to the most recent 1000 photos AND is non-permanent storage? Any photos you wish to keep must be saved manually.

It is unless you have a Mac in which case it automatically syncs all your photos to that.

I like it as it means I have my last 30 days worth of photos always available and they automatically available on my MBP.

Windows Phone/8 does this out of the box via SkyDrive if you sign in with a Microsoft account.

Too many eggs in one basket for me. If you do something to upset Microsoft, you could lose access to your own computer account, Xbox gamertag, Skydrive store, Outlook email, etc.

Does that work for the PC though? My main point was regarding the OP not getting confused into thinking iCloud/photostream was doing something it actually wasn't. If it is indeed pushing a copy to a machine then that's great.

I'm sorry but that's completely irrational, but your opinion nonetheless so I'm not going to argue with that.

I get the whole eggs in one basket thing, I do it myself. I've weaned myself off iTunes and won't be touching Xbox for content. Netflix, Audible etc. are the way to go to make it easier to pick and choose competing platforms in the future.

I just wasn't seeing the logic in ditching products and services of Company A for products and services of Company B in the name of not tying yourself to a single company.

Two options:

Using iCloud:
- On your iPhone go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup
- Turn iCloud Backup on and wait for it to back up completely
- If you've already used your iPad, on there go to Settings > General > Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings
- When you're setting up the iPad, it will ask if you want to restore from an iCloud backup—just choose the iPhone backup

Using a computer with iTunes:
- Sync your iPhone with iTunes—this will also make a backup
- If you've already used your iPad, on there go to Settings > General > Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings
- Connect your iPad to your computer and follow the steps in iTunes to restore from the iPhone backup
