Hi guys,

I recently bought the Linksys WAG320N from OcUK and so far its been excellent!

I'm now looking at a Synology Disk Station DS210j
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-028-SY

my question is, if I can connect this to the router which both ends have gigabit lan, what kind of speeds am I likely to get via the wireless N 5.0ghz from the router to a media PC with a wireless N adapter?

for reference I've tested some files streaming from an icybox connected to the USB input on the router (typically 720P Video 5000kpbs + DTS audio at 1500kbps) and that didn't seam to struggle at all streaming to a mac mini via the wireless N @ 5ghz.

Do you think the Synology DS210j is going to be quicker than the current way I'm testing this set up.

currently I can copy files at about 4mbs from the routers usb connection.

Many thanks! :D

Hi there,

I have a DS210j, with 2 LP drives in RAID 1, so not the best performance-wise, but does for my needs.

Having said that, I had it originally connected via an old 100Mbps router, and when I upgraded to a gigabit router, the thing became MUCH faster. So, the DS210j can definitely go faster than 100Mbit, I'd estimate closer to 300.

Thanks for the reply mate!
Yeah, I'll only be using it for a single video stream at one time to the next room for along from me. I can't really lay down any ethernet cable etc so hoping this will do the trick.

I think I'll bite the bullet and order, looks like they have 3 left in stock!

might even put it on a Saturday delivery!!!! :D

this arrived earlier today (it looks great) I'll be playing with it tonight and will fire some info on for reference.
