Have had this for over 4 years now and am thinking of upgrading to a new server such as a Synology DS218+ or similar. Thinking of Synology as I have only used this make so far. Reason to think of upgrade - I find it is slow at times and there is buffering issues on streaming at times.

For a 2-bay upgrade you can't go wrong with a Synology DS218+ or QNAP TS-251B.

Are you using it to transcode? if so get the DS218+. if only using as a file server get the DS218j. I have both, and as a media server only without transcoding the + is overkill and wasted cash, but if you are transcoding then the + is ideal.

Bit of future-proofing? The 918+ has served me well for the last year or so... you can never have too many bays!
