Anyone used em?

I have a Synology NAS which is 10+ years old, working perfectly and still fully supported by Synology with constant updates. The Asus router I bought at the same time has been out of support for years and has an ancient 3rd party firmware on it.

I didn't know Synology did routers....but I'd be quite keen to go with them if they're any good, given the quality service from their NAS gear and ongoing support I've had.

I got a Synology 2600 router from the MM here a couple of months ago. It has been fine. Reviews say it is one of the best routers out there for home use. Myself, I can't say I've put it to any great trials or tests. I basically just use it like a bog standard router to replace my broadband suppliers router.

Reviews say the wifi range is excellent. In practice I can't see much difference between this and my suppliers router. My rear garden IP camera still drops off the wifi from time to time. That may not be down to the router though. I suspect there might be something else here blocking my signal.

The users interface is very similar to the DSM interface on my nas.

Praise to Synology customer support. Very much so. They sent me two replacement antenna free of charge when I accidentally damaged them. I'd even told them beforehand that I was not the original owner and the 2600 was surely out of warranty. Great customer service.

Edit: Just to make you aware Synology routers do not have a built in modem. You'd need to get separate modem such as a Draytek vigor 130 or an openreach modem.

didnt know they made routers, but what i would do is get open pfsense (or alteernavtibes) in a pc (tons of them in actions sites in china/uk that are fanless) and get a wifi 6 access points
