Ive read that you can use sysprep before installing a new mobo wich basically resets your drivers back to windows default. thus allowing u to install the board without reinstalling windows

anyone tried it?

Tried that before, doesn't always work even when moving from one model of Dell to another very similar model. There might well be another better program but personally I take any chance I can to install a fresh OS.

just a thought, could you not use device manager to unistall all devices, then it should just asign windows drivers

sysprep is mainly for using different windows keys. so say you have 10 identical pc's and 10 licenses.

you can install 1 license on one pc and configure it all and get it lovely.

Then sysprep it and then ghost the drive to the 9 others. plug them in to their own machines and type in their own license keys.

Has never worked for me, it'll only work if you have the drivers on it for the new PC and do it in safe mode - possibly.

I use a corporate license so the key is in the sysprep file so I dont have to enter it. It's more so that the computers all have different SID numbers for the network and of course so that all your apps etc are preinstalled and setup as you want.
