system check

you guys think the intel chip would be better

i'm not completely sure about the ssd though. i mean, will it be reliable for my mum to store her files on, or should they be on an additional hdd?

the cost of the one you quoted is overkill for the system.

think the ssd would be a bit overkill, maybe get a 320gb sata drive.

have you thought about her having a laptop ?

Ok, she said she doesn't want a laptop and I can't convince her since she had problems in the past.

fair enough.

any of the specs with the intel processors should be more than enough for what she wants.

i'd go for a sata drive (have a look at the Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB) over an ssd for your moms requirements.

wouldn't bother getting a third party cooler.

They come with Intel stock coolers but personally I find them too loud. Up to you if you want to include the third party cooler or not.

I would get the pentium. Celeron could slow you down a little in some scense. As for the SSD I asked about a value one a few days ago and most people where in favour for the 64GB M4 by Crucial. A SSD will speed up the system by a considerable amount (if you install Windows on there of course). Everything will feel more resonsive and generally nicer to use. If you don't need much space I would certainly recommend it.
