System Crash (new GTX1080)

That PSU degrading thing is either nonsense or grossly exaggerated. In my previous system I was using components with similar power draw to your system running on a 7+ yr old Corsair 650w PSU. It was rock stable under full load, for hours upon end.

Some psus probably degrade at a higher rate than normal, but I'd say its an exception rather than the rule (so long as it is of decent quality to begin with).

I saw in a few threads that the drivers were causing people to have display driver crashes. I disregarded them at first because their symptoms were just a driver restart. I came by these posts again a few days ago and in a wild guess that my drivers were crashing harder than other's (not even sure if that is a thing). Turns out that for whatever reason this seemed to be the case. In a way it was good as this whole episode caused me to clean all my hardware, reassemble my pc and finally buy Windows 10!

And what I said from the start, PSU don't BSOD a PC they is so much rubbish around the internet that anyone will believe anything these days.

A PSU has not middle ground, common PSU issues are total power off or restart nothing else.

BSOD are mostly down to hardware issue with other components but software can also be an issue just like OP has found out.

I just had a problem with my ram as one of my pc's is quite a old machine and had to lower the speed of my ram as I was having a problem.

Fascinating that you would think that, also completely untrue!

Until I fix a PSU making a pc BSOD I will continue to believe what I saying. In all my years fixing and building PCs I am yet to see a PSU BSOD q pc.

I had Bsod 2 years ago, It was faulty memory, then 1.5 years ago same bsod error so bought a mobo and psu and turned out the psu fixed it so sent the mobo back.

So yep I agree with you.

And was this a fresh build meaning you taken out the memory? Because funny enough in the past I have fixed a family pc by simply reseating a memory stick.

Crazy I know.

I have seen 1 PSU that caused a BSOD, it was a **** PSU, probably worth under £10 (probably cost the buyer more) Voltages were way off spec.

It was binned pretty quickly. :)

No it was my own PC with windows 8.1 on it. Still the same windows install I am on now and I had tested memory again already after the first time. Just popped in the new psu and fixed.
