Currently have a laptop located in a patch panel cabinet which runs 24/7. Its connected into a robotic systems computer so I can access data remotely using TeamViewer.

I am looking for something to replace this laptop as I feel this one could be showing signs of one day packing up. I am wondering if there are alternative options instead of a laptop as running 24/7 takes it toll on laptops.

Problem is, I need to be able to use it so I need it to fit inside a 19" rack and I need a screen etc hence why I am currently using an old 15" laptop.

I need to run Windows 7 and that's pretty much that as the software that runs on the system doesn't need a high spec system. Only problem I have is someone has to come out and install the software which is a pain in the ass as they won't let me do it even though I am more qualified than they are.

Or maybe I am stuck with a laptop?

is it a full size rack or just a data cab? you can get short 1U servers and then get a 1U pull out monitor/keyboard. or wall mount a monitor next to it

This; or 1u server and a cheap IP KVM if you're using TeamViewer and aren't needing to be physically present?

I think it's a 12U cabinet. Times during the day, one needs to have physical access to it hence why I need a screen etc.

The server and pull out keyboard is interesting. Any links to examples?
