system for HD content

Hi all,

Looking for a sytem for living room. Needs to be small (like ps3/Xbox) needs to run cool (be in tv cabient) no need for monitor keyboard or anything like that.

Need HDMI would be solo used for HD video (plugged in to 1080p 40" tv) and mild internet

Any ideas what I would need?

You need to specify a budget tbh. But an amd 780 mobo with built-in sound and video is fine for streaming HD stuff. Just pick your HD and optical drives, and of course your case.

well budget would be as low as possible... would i need a good sound card and video card? or would cheap do? dont need blue ray as have PS3 so just cheap dvd drive. would i need fast HD or just big and cheap?

which case would be good? Would need to be silent

This would be ideal, if you're after saving money you could get a cheaper PSU like the Corsair 450W or even cheaper case if you dont want specific HTPC, but Ive tried to make it as silent as possible for you

Think ben means an 780G not the 790i which is an nvidia

1TB hard drive, (spinpoint F1)
2GB DDR800 memory
AMD 780G motherboard
AMD 4850e or 5050e cpu
optical drive.
power supply and case and youre sorted. not too much

Teh system posted above my last post is a little overkill even if it is quiet. Don't need 500W power supply, 7750+ black edition? Nope don't need that esp not the unlocked multi. Look for the power efficient CPU's that AMD make (ones I posted above)

Look at the Silverstone LC10 - little cheaper now and lovely case.

Either a Hiper 425W or a Akasa 400 silent would do PSU wise to save some more money

Maybe a 1TB hard drive? And you could probably use a stock cooler

Well id prefer the 4850e or 5050e just as you said, but theyre not on the OCUK site

, so I just chucked that in, it would do the job fine just isnt so energy efficient. The only reason I choose that cooler over the low pro AF7 you picked is cos its not in stock!
