How do I go about building a decent system for use overseas? I am going to work in Azerbaijan on a months rotation for the next year...and hope to have broadband where I will be staying. This will allow me to keep up my online gaming career also:D Anyway...my plan is to buy a pile of components and take them over with me...and build system over there. One thing I may need to buy in the country is a PSU...correct??? Or can I use one from the UK just with an adaptor.
If you can assist any..let me know.

Cheers

most power supplies either are auto switching (can use 110v or 230v), or have a switch on the back for it, and some monitors can use either 110v or 230v, but check first because some can only use one, but if that country uses 230v like the UK it should be perfectly fine with just a different power lead.

i currently got an LCD monitor...Viewsonic 2025. The spec on the viesonid website states this...

AC 100-240V, 50-60Hz (auto switch)

does this mean it would work overseas at different voltages as the UK quite easlily??

All Id have to the is buy a converter plug adaptor thing.

Also...the corsiar PSU... HX520W. Does this work at different voltages other than 240 also? I cant see it on the Corair website.

Edit...it does actually give the spec...AC Input 90-264V. So i guess it does.

i'd be a bit wary about taking all the components over with you, the x-ray scanners at the airports may mess them up, then you'd have a pile of expensive scrap metal.
