I recently installed some additional RAM upgrading from:
2 x 1GB DDR3 Dual Channel OCZ Platinum - http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr3_pc3_10666_platinum_edition
to
2 x 1GB DDR3 Dual Channel OCZ Platinum (1.8v) - http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr3_pc3_10666_platinum_edition
2 x 2GB DDR3 Dual Channel OCZ Gold (1.7v) - http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr3_pc3_10666_gold_edition
This coincided with a PSU change as well owing to the other one giving up the will to live.
ALL Ram modules have passed an extensive RAM test without issue.
Now that all 4 banks are being used, is it possible a minor tweak to the DDR3 voltage maybe needed to power all 4 sticks?
The board is a Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P and I have just this moment upgraded from BIOS version F8e to F8f.
Could not enough juice to the ram cause a complete system lock?
EDIT:
I tried increasing the DDR voltage to 1.8, still the same freeze.
Increased the NB voltage, testing now.
Failing the above, will remove the 2 x 1GB modules.
Still the same issue.
EDIT 2:
Have removed the 2 x 1GB Modules. They did seem warm to the touch.
Thanks.
