The other day i was using my computer and suddenly it just turned off without warning.

Now it wont turn back on i think it may be the power supply that has gone brokey since it is around 5 years old now i'de say.

Dont think it was a power surge because it was connected to an adaptor and nothing else that was connected was effected.

Can anyone say anything on this, i can really take it to a shop for them to have a look at because i havent got a car. I was going to just order a new PSU from OCUK but im just not sure yet if it is the problem ?

Remove the main ATX connector and link out pins 13 & 14, this will start the PSU.

I would remove all connections to the pc and just connect a fan to one of molex connectors.

This should prove if the psu starts or may be fault.

Alternatively, just remove the PSU and take it to a computer shop and ask them to test the power of it, the place I work at has a perfectly good PSU tester and I imagine most others do too, pretty standard piece of kit.

This would be easier than taking the whole PC atleast.
