System Rebooting at Loading Operating System

My PSU blew this morning so I went out and grabbed another one. The system now boots but reboots instantly at loading operating system with no blue screen.

It will do this even if no HDD's are connected and also if I select first boot to be DVD drive.

I can load into bios and sit in there with no issues or reboots and it detects all drives and memory.

Anyone experienced anything similar and offer a suggestion or any tips for determining if another component is faulty.

clear the cmos? it will reset any bios/oc settings so make a note of them first

leave out the mb cmos battery a good 10-15 minutes then try

I've done a fail safe reset of the bios as my mobo has an option to do that. Will reseting the cmos battery accomplish the same thing?

Still exactly the same after cmos reset. Stays in BIOS fine but restarts instantly when trying to load operating system.

Already tried that and same issue with each indivual stick tried in multiple ram slots. Unless they are both dodgy from the PSU blowout.

Tried running memtest?

Sure there is some where you can get a download onto a usb or disk, if that is possible for you?

Graphics card, or onboard gpu?

Try moving the card to another pcie slot if at all possible, if you have one.

have you done a startup repair with booting from the windows disc?? try two or three attempts as sometimes it takes that to fix it

Tested memory with know good stick lent to me by mate. No luck.

Flashed and updated the bios. No luck.

Tried to run startup repair but PC reboots as soon as I select any option in the select boot options page be it USB or DVD.

Could the PSU popping damaged the systemboard and if so does it soon like that is causing the issue. Was sat in the bios for about 45 mins no issue while I went over all the settings with fine toothed comb but as soon as I saved and it brought up the "Loading operating system" screen it just instantly rebooted, no blue screen or any error message.

Starting to lose patience with it, not that I had much to begin with with PC's :P

Can you get into windows via Safemode? If you can, Go into Start up and Recovery and untick the the "Automatically Restart" button under system failure (if my memory serves my right). If the error re-occurs, you should get a BSOD which should in turn give you a better clue.

Have you tried a live CD such as PEBuilder.

If you have tried the above and these don't work then try testing the motherboard, ram, Video card, CPU and HSF outside the case. Place the motherboard on a box, connect the screen and hook up the PSU and start the power by shorting the two PWR pins. I'm wondering if something is shorting when in the case? Regardless, this is a good basic test because if it works you can add single components back in one at a time until you are ready to put back in the case. If all is well thereafter, my initial suspicion is true. If it fails when outside the case straight away, then you are looking at a faulty motherboard, since you've already tested the memory and replaced the PSU.

press one of the f keys (cant remember) to bring up the menu to boot into safe mode, and see if that works, then once in safe mode run a checkdisk on your hdd/ssd to fix any errors

Have you also unplugged all USB peripherals?

Also try unplugging/removing other hardware such as sound card etc one by one. Use integrated GPU on mobo/CPU if you have one and remove graphics card as well?

F8 for safe mode or it should bring up the boot options menu and I think you can disable the auto reboot on error, this should stop the system rebooting and show you a BSOd with the error on it, this may help you track down the fault better.

Could be corrupt system file or driver possibly

9 times out of 10 when something goes pop it either corruptes the cmos/bios or the os

that's besides taking out other components/hardware

F8 doesn't do anything even though it should bring up the safe mode option. Might just get a new mobo, seems the most likely cause.
