\just finished rebuilding my machine and all went really well, apart from the fact that Networking is now FUBAR :(

I'm not using wireless, always been hard wired into the router.
Checked all physical aspects - apart from taking the PC apart, and nothing!

When i right click on the network icon in the system tray, all i get is
"The dependency service or group failed to start"

What does that mean?
(im on Vista if that makes any odds)

thanks!

Check the event viewer and find out what the problem is.

What would that tell me ?

You've restarted?

Device drivers for network cards all properly installed?

At first I thought what a rubbish reply, BUT come to think of it - i might have been a monkey.
I did run drivercleaner to uninstall all ATI drivers.

Does a gigabyte ds3 have any ATI drivers that it uses?

Does vista have an equivalent of "services.msc"?

Sounds to me like one of the services is not starting up properly, perhaps set to manual when it should be set to auto.

Hmm - can't find my driver CD - think I'll do a system restore, see if that does the job.
edit: yes i did enable all services to check already :(
edit: which services should I look out for?
