hi,

just installed a new 8800gtx a couple of days ago. i've noticed ever since that my system is slower (things like a big lag before opening a folder).

i have just done a clean reinstall of windows to try to fix this but it is still the same.

both times when i have setup the card i have got the driver from nvidia's site for the 8800 series. obviously the second setup was done on a clean system with no gfx drivers installed at all, so there can't be a conflict there now.

should i have used the drivers off the supplied cd instead? i wen't for the latest ones direct from the site, but i'm wondering if there is something extra on the cd?

can anbody think of a reason for this slowdown. What have i done wrong.

no the latest ones should be good. Are you sure there is a problem...is gaming OK. Is is video lag you are experiencing or maybe something else. Try another driver and game a bit more before you blame the card.

make sure you got a good PSU as well as i noticed with my older system i had i updated to a better graphics card and the psu was letting it down so i changed PSU's and everythin started running fast again

go to start then run: type in msconfig and click ok.

go to startup tab and uncheck:

nwiz
mcTray.

Should help as I had the same problem, I unchecked them and restarted and it went away.

Might help. ;)
