System Shock 2 Multiplayer problems

I have been trying to play SS2 multiplay with some friends of mine but have been having issues.

I have the game running fine using various mod and fixes for XP but every time I click on "Host a game" or try to join a game it crashes to desktop.

My friend's pc can get beyond this point and he hasn't done anything differently. Any suggestions?

ask on the sshock forums, Ive had major problems getting this to work too

I can't even get the single player portion of this game to run on Xp,let alone the Multi-player!

to get SP running on XP theres a patch out there (just google for it, should be on the sshock forums as well) and if you have a dual core processor you have to set it to run on one core only.

I've been trying to get this working MP too, the two computers just won't talk to each other, it just says connection failed! any ideas?
