Basically what it says in the title.

I never played System shock but heard much about it however i liked deus ex and is it same as it ? should i give it a try ?

also i heard there is a texture pack? anyone knows were can you get it ?

Thank you for your opinion ;)

Yes, yes you should play it! (If you can get it running on XP!!!)

The texture pack is available from sshock2.com - Looks like it was updated in September - Might have to play through again myself :P

i think there is xp fix for it looking for it now

edit: found the xp fix! can you post filefront links in ocuk forums ?

I think so /re filefront (but see below for an alternative).

Anyhow. Just thought I'd chip in with another "Play it right nowwwwwwwwww!" message ;)

In addition to the texture pack mentioned (SHTUP / http://shtup.home.att.net/), consider checking out Rebirth Complemented Edition (http://www.strangebedfellows.de/index.php/topic,8.0.html) and as it's your first time through you may find some useful, spoiler-free tips in ZylonBane's Newbie Guide (http://shtup.home.att.net/newbies_guide.html).

Have fun :)

Edit:

Also worth noting, any updates to the game/etc you might need can probably be found on http://www.strangebedfellows.de and you can get uesful (but sometimes abrasive) help on http://ttlg.com.

Amazing, amazing game. Probably one of the only games bar the Half Life ones that I have played for the story. It is truly engrossing, despite the dated graphics.

If you like scary games then yes play it - unfortunately I'm a wuss and couldn't get very far in it. Awesome game system though.

Yep, but whether it works or not seems to depend more on your graphics card than your operating system.

If you have a dual core cpu you also have to set the affinity to a single core or it won't work. Worth the effort though, with the texture and model packs it still looks good enough that the graphics don't get in the way of the game.

Using the tool you don't need to mess with affinity settings as it pre-patches the .exe file to use only one core.

I've used the game with tons of ATI and Nvidia cards on different systems with different drivers and OS's and to be honest I've never had it not work. I know people have had problems but you can always resolve it if you take the proper steps.

Best game ever IMO. Never had problems running it on certain video cards, but as said above it doesn't like dual-core so you need to alt-tab out in the menus and set affinity to CPU0 only using task manager.

Make sure you listen to all the audio logs for the backstory. It's great co-op too, although it can go wrong so keep more than one save.
