ok i have just finished a build i hit the power and it turnes on all is ok but after about a minuet or 2 it shuts down any ideas?
system is
core2duo e6600
abit aw9d-max
corsair 2gb ddr2 twin 2x
ati x1900xtx
thermaltake purepower 500w

If it a random restart..Pop in to Control Panel> System properties> Advanced tab. then click on startup and recovery. Check on the box that says "Write an event to the system log"

Next time it happens it should restart.. but then go into the event viewer and find out where this is occuring.

Make sure your HSF is fitted, connected and working and the CPU isn't exceeding the shut down temp.

Also, make sure that your RAM settings are correct and are getting the correct voltages and the timings are correct.

Might also be more juice than the 500w can handle - shouldn't be, but I have no idea what the vdroop for a Thermaltake is :)

If you have an older gfx card, I'd swap that in and see if that helps

yes already conected power to all 3 conectors did that when i put it together.
just put in an old x300se and still the same just shuts down after about a minuet :(

ok will do that when i get back from work tonight what sort of temps are good temps just rough ranges will do also i was thinking what sort of voltages should the cpu be using?

If it goes over 60c then theres a problem either heatsink not on right or cpu voltage too high i think 1.3v is normal for 6600. Might be best to reset the cmos it should then default to the right voltage.
Also just boot up with 1 stick of ram and graphics card, 1 hard drive. If it fails again swap ram for the other module + check what voltage the ram is set at 2.1
is normal. GOOD LUCK ;)
