So recently my graphics card has been giving me issues and i'm having to send it back to get checked over (driver issues - that's recurring after reformatting) Rather than be cardless for 2-3 weeks while this is in the mail getting checked ect I've decided ill buy another gtx 580 so i can atleast use my computer until the card comes back to me.

Current card: GTX 580 1.5 Twin Frozr II

The card im looking at getting to sli would be Twin Frozr III

These cards should run fine together right, the only downfall is the Twin Frozr III will have to run at the same speed as the Twin Frozr II correct?

Cheers in advance.

Ryan.

1920x1080 on most games, I run 2 LCD all the time also - the other option would be to buy a cheaper card that run the current games and then when i get my card back swap it back out for my gtx 580 - i just cant do with not having the gaming for 2-3 weeks.. i sound so desperate lol.

Cheers.

Only problem is to get a card thats going to run the games properly is going to cost a good 150 pound anyways then when i get the 580 back its going to be sitting gathering dust as a spare.

I guess there is not a great deal of improvement, I've never really felt the 580 has been that great fps wise there are many with worse cards i know that get more fps on games than myself but they all play with a single monitor running.

Would sli improve the fps by much at all, personally i'd rather pay another 150 than have something sitting there that cost me 150 gathering dust.

so I've spent the past few days looking at what to upgrade to once i get my card back and get that sold, would have 450-550 to spend. What do you guys recon is my best bet to get the best performance for my buck?

The 7850 is about equal to your 580 when overclocked. Personaly I understand your wanting to upgrade but do you feel it is worth it? If you answer yes, then consider a 670/7950 as these offer the better value for money. The MSI Lightning 680 is a seriously good card but is expensive. it is your money bud, so decide on a budget and stick with it :)

Thanks for the reply, ill keep looking into it for now. I do feel an upgrade would make me happier in the sense that I feel the performance is pretty slack right now not sure if its due to having two monitors or what.

I'll make my mind up for monday morning and let you know what's what!
