Sure that is a fair difference but this is not purely a gaming machine, for the most part it runs several vm (server 2008) environments for sharepoint development. The most part of my gaming is done playing league of legends on my laptop which is an I5, 4gb, 5650 combo... the desktop is used for gaming possibly once a fortnight for a few hours.

Right right. But still, I don't see the logic of going 1100T build, when the cheaper/same price level 2500K build would be faster in not just gaming, but beat it in almost EVERYTHING ELSE as well? http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/203?vs=288
Also, power consumption wise the 2500K would be lower than the 1100T.
Your breaking my balls now marine Ill see how I like it and go from there... it's been a while since ive owned any amd kit (barton 2500m) So ill run it for a little bit and see how I get on. I could always swap it into an office machine and club together a new build later on in the year or next year or something.
lets be honest its still going to wipe the floor with my old Q6600 is it not?

Couldn't afford a 1100T build, so certainly can't afford the more expensive 2500k build.
VMs will make use of the extra cores and makes it more suitable than the 2500k for this use.
Change the record, everyone knows how good SB is, but it has its limits

Haha this is spot on, I am a porper so couldn't really push to the 2500k build. I sat, I thought, I rushed into a buying decision so I can have some metal to play with tomorrow.
I may regret it but then its not for life and I am sure it is going to do a cracking job over the next year or two. On another note I changed that anad link to compare it to my Q6600 and it walks all over ye old faithfull so thats good enough for me.
