Upgrading a system for a friend.

He mainly uses it for gaming, and needs the following:-

Motherboard
Ram
CPU
Gfx card

He has a £400 limit, so what is his best choice?

3 cores should be enough for most games....but so you know he can unlock the forth core aswell:D

I'd prefer the 5770, good enough performance and DX11 support. Asus just released a Bios update for a lot of their motherboards that makes it a lot easier to unlock cores, even choose which core is locked. Memory i specified is worth £20 more imo.
