yep, another new build thread...

Looking to upgrade my system fairly soon from my trusty opteron170 to a Sandybridge and just need some advice as I haven't built an Intel PC before

Budget ~£500

Requirements: CPU heavy with 8Gb Ram, for 3D rendering and light gaming

CPU
Intel Core i7-2600K

MOBO
Asus P67 Sabertooth Intel P67

RAM
G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-062-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

Cooler
Corsair H50

Will these components work well together?
Any possible issues?
Is it worth going for a Z68 board?

please make any suggestions for alternative components

Will be using existing PSU (Corsair TX 650W) and GFX card

Cheers,
Mark

I would go for Low profile RAM, something like XMS3. That way you don't need to worry about possible interference with heatsink.

I wouldn't bother with a Z68 mobo at this budget, as long as you are getting a graphics card then you probably wouldn't use the other features really. I'm assuming this 3D rendering doesn't make use of quicksync?

My main concern is... are you sure you can get all of this for £500? I haven't tried adding it up yet though to be honest. I am assuming you have a case already?

He is on a £500 budget here :p Being a bit optimistic don't you think?

EDIT: Take absolutely no notice of this post. I am being a bit thick

I'm assuimg from his OP that this is all he needs :p. 495 is what these add up to + the CPU.

Oh ****, I read the OP wrong, I thought he was asking us to suggest him a Graphics card also and something along the lines of that PSU, not saying he already had it :/ Sorry
