Evening guys, I've been thinking about upgrading to the new CPU chips for awhile now and seeing as this board - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-347-GI&groupid=595&catid=689

is so cheap I was wondering would you recommend me moving from my rampage iv extreme, 3930k to this motherboard and a 4770k for example.

For gaming purposes I'm guessing i'll see a big improvement as the 4770k should overclock to around 4.5 with relative ease?

Just wondering what your thoughts are on this :)

You're fine, that's a great CPU and there is no need to upgrade to a 4770k as I don't believe it would even be an upgrade.

Maybe you could overclock your current CPU if you feel like you need some more performance.

Corsair dominator platinum 3000mhz 16gb ddr4
Asus rog extreme v with OC panel
Intel 5930k

What about this an upgrade path would I see good benefits on games with this setup?

There is little to no reason to upgrade your CPU. 3930k overclocked vs a 5930k overclocked there is very little difference in. 3930k will clock better, where as 5930k has IPC gains. Really not worth the money. As for going to a 4770k? Deffo not worth it.

Go with GPU upgrade or save your money for a more substantial upgrade.

I was in a similar boat yourself just over a year ago, albeit with lower-end parts.
I was on an i5 750 and an Asus P7P55D motherboard and decided to jump on a haswell upgrade with a 4670k and an MSI Z87 G45.

Aside from the over 700mhz stock clock increase (2.67 vs 3.4), in gaming terms there is very little difference between the two, especially with the former OC'd to 3.2.

In your situation I would highly recommend a mild OC, perhaps 3.2 to 3.8? it'll still show very little gaming benefit as the entire Intel lineup has been good enough for gaming since Nehalem debuted, but you'll feel more powerful lol

As the above, grab a nice heatsink if you don't already and overclock

Are you gaming on the system only? What res are you at?

would agree with others, cpu is fine, I run a I7 950 @ 3.8ghz and have no issues gaming.

I do need to change the GPU but apart from that it can hand most things

the gpu you have, is it the one in your sig (780TI)? if so then I would leave your system as it is and save the money, get a better cpu cooler if you don't already and give it a bit more of a OC.

for the amount it would cost to upgrade you wouldn't see that much of a improvement.

what ress do you gave at and what monitor do you use?
