Had this system for just over a month

Asus P8Z68-V Motherboard and i5-2500k cpu

Decided to change ram from Consair Vengeance to Kingston HyperX and then the system just wouldn't boot, it was doing a startup and shutdown think the board does that with new ram going in, but i'm still not getting anything on screen. I have taken board and PSU out of case to try on a table, and still no joy. I even tried putting the old ram in, and also trying to reset the cmos, still no luck :(

Cpu fan is spinning so is graphics card, power light on board, and the red light for Mem OK?

All i wanted to do was change RAM over, and put my Noctua NH-D14 cooler on as it fits this ram :(

put one stick of RAM in slot 3 (3rd furthest from CPU socket)

Remove power from mains & remove CMOS battery

Leave ten mins

power back up again.

still tried no luck, I try the same process yet again from above, but this time with the RAM i previously used..

still no luck :(

I tested the graphics card on old motherboard and works fine, im sure its not the ram because I got 2 lot of different ram to try and it does same thing, only thing i left with it the cpu and motherboard.

Not very happy only brought board on 16th Nov

your not using a SSD are you? maybe needs switching back to AHCI??

just a thought

edit: nvm thought it was posting but not going to windows. Need sleep

I'd suggest unplugging everything from the motherboard for 10 min or so. Then replace with your original ram. Boot it up with the least amount of hardware plugged in. I'd try each ram slot individually with 1 module after that. Good luck. If that does not work, not sure what else to suggest, maybe something else was upset during the ram module change? A cable slighty out for instance. It's hardware, so a strip down and rebuild from scratch normally works for me or identifys broken parts.

Well finally I got it booting off my new memory, havent a bloody clue what was going on..

Anyway all up and running again with new ram and noctua d14 cooler installed (all out of case at moment)

Max temp 57
Idle temp 25

Wow! :)

I was getting 38-45 idle and 86-90 temps before under load with stock cooler! :)
