Hi All,

A friend has given me his new laptop as he cannot get the new T mobile dongle to work, I have installed it (which he had not) and in the third party software it connects, When opening internet explorer it keeps saying i have a connection problem, I have tried disabling windows firewall with no luck, The strange thing is i can ping google website through a command prompt?

It's installed on windows 7, please help

What is the Make and Model of the Dongle?
Are you connected over 2g or 3g?
Who many bars of signal show?
If you change the bearer from 3g to 2g does this work?

Its a Huawei E1630 Dongle and at the moment it is connected via GPRS, There is also no setting to change it to 2g or 3g, The one thing i am looking into is my friend has not told me if it is a pay as you go sim and more importantly if he has actually put any money on it, if he had not then would it still connect?

it depends what price plan it is on if it is a PAYG SIM. if it is on a mobile broadband PAYG plan i.e. Pre21 then it will still connect but not show pages, however it should re-direct you to a splash page.

If you want to trust me the phone number for the SIM or if you don't know it the serial number on the back of it I can check it out for you when i'm back in the office next tuesday, if that is too long if you call 08454 125000 that puts you in the T-Mobile CS department

I set one of these up last Sunday ended up having to call customer services as any page just went to 500 Internal server error.

At least they gave me £2 free to start the first 30 days off :)
