I need to set up the missus's HTC touch diamond on contract flext web'n'walk T-mobile. Have tried the t-mobile text thing but as they do not sell the phone yet I had to pick a vario 3 from their phone list.. always get pin code message for settings via SMS but never receive the settings message. Saying that I have never seemd to have any luck getting these setting SMS things to work.

Can i get the settings from somewhere else and manually enter them on the phone?

best bet would be to ring cus service. advise the frontline agent to put you through to tdms as you need internet settings for a phone they dont sell. if you dont youll get an agent trying all sorts of settings with you first that dont work.

tdms are the tech team; although we dont have the settings on the database yet the tdms are pretty quick in figuring out work around settings, you'll just need some variation on the vario3 settings as its still winmo6

hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my Diamond...went over to xda forums and they gave me the settings...well it was a cab file that i just copied over to my phone...unfortunately cant attach files here but ill give you the settings to add manually..

Go to setting-allsettings-connections-connections.. create a new connection for the internet, eg T-Mobile Internet

APN: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: user
password: wap

For MMS, go to messages - > all messages -> menu -> MMS options -> Servers

Create a new settings here:

gateway 149.254.201.135
port number 8080
server address: http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002
Connect via: <the GPRS connection name you setup above eg. T-Mobile Internet>
Sendlimit: 300k
WAP version: wap 2.0

That should work, well those are the settings i have for my Diamond and it works perfectly well.

Thanks Spawn, that got the internet working. but the MMS still comes up with the collect picture from a url when you recieve one. The settings page has a server name field which I wasn' sure what to put as you didn't list it and the connect via bit doesn't list T-Mobile Internet(I did enter that for the internet bit) so i put that as My ISP?

to help pinpoint where the problem lies with the mms, try sending one from the diamond to the diamond.

Just get a forbidden logo apearing up top next to the 3G,reception etc icons.

And when it recieves an MMS it's just a link to pick it up from t-mobile web server.

Do you have to get the operator to enable the MMS feature still these days? on the sim I mean.

I dont know, my connection and mms works perfectly fine.

Pop over to this link and download the cab file from there, it has all the tmobile settings...all you do is connect your phone and copy the cab file over then use file explorer thats on the phone and click on the file in your phone and it should install the settings for you automatically....you might need to delete those settings you put in earlier.

The cab file you need is on page 4 of the thread and a guy windoze9t8 has attached it to his post...its 3 posts down on that page...use that cab as the other ones i was used were out of date and were causing me no end of problems with email etc.

technically you do; you need the PICT-PROV SOC (Service order code) on your account, however if i remeber correctly you need the same SOC for the internet and if that side is working then it would appear you already have it on there. i'd give them a call though and ask them to double check,
