I was wondering what would be best? the pulse can be had from t-mobile pay as you go for £160 while the mini is expected to be £100 when it does come out. The pulse is using the older 1.5 android os while the mini will be v2.1 when out. The pulse has the bigger screen however.

Im just lost as to whether the pulse mini's smaller screen will effect it and whether its better to go for the Pulse with maybe knowing it wont be updated to v2.1.

Any help with this would be appreciated! especially from Pulse owners.

Cheers,
Stephen

I have a pulse, rooted with a custom version of 1.5 on, and my partner has a pulse with the t-mobile rom on. It is supposedly getting an update to the latest android in the next few months anyway. We are both very happy with the phone as it is, but the one problem we have, especially on the handset with the t-mobile rom, is storage space. The custom rom is a little quicker also.

Having not read about the mini, will the screen resolution be any different? If i remember correctly, there are some issues with some of the apps not working on the HTC Tattoo due to it being a different screen (not sure if that is an issue with Resolution or the fact that it is resistive).

The Pulse Mini screen is 2.8" (small), resistive (unresponsive compared to capacitative which is now the standard), 240x320 (very low resolution).

The screen size and resistive technology is countered by the fact that it is intended to be used with a stylus and not necessarily the fingers.

pdadb asserts that the Mini has a slightly updated processor and more ram than the original so the Mini should be a little better for running multiple apps, or installing more apps (assuming you don't root the phone) than the Pulse.

hmm in that case i think its settled, i'll be going for the Pulse instead. It does cheese me off slightly that theres a better cpu and more memory than the original though...
Cheers Guys.

The custom rom that you have installed/flashed humanshield, what does it actually give you that the standard t-mobile doesnt?

less home screens (3 instead of 6), but I can install apps to the SD card instead of internal memory if I want to, so if the internal storage becomes an issue, I can get round it easily. The custom rom takes less internal memory also I believe

It also isnt the standard t-mobile colours (black and pink!), and just generally allows a little more customisation. The large Pulse thread on here should help with what you can and cant do with it, as I have only had it a couple of weeks!

I've got the pulse and also have the custom vanilla rom installed from the modaco website. Once you've got that on and partition your memory card so you can install apps on there from the market it's much better.
I personally think the pulse is a great phone. It's the best i've had anyway.
Once you get some decent apps on the customise it it's brilliant. I recommend getting open home,aContacts, handcent SMS,ringdroid, oneclick widgets and also appinstaller if you partition your memory card.

The Pulse has less RAM, a bigger screen, and no Sense UI compared to the HTC Hero. This, at half the price of a new Hero. It's actually a very good value phone.

well coming from a 3 year old samsung D600 that i bought pay as you go i imagine it would be for me too!

EDIT: Online has offers such as 6 months free internet and 30 days free texts, will that offer be online only or instore too ? as it would be handy.
