T Mobile Unlimited Data

Happy with my current (3GB) but believe that when upgrade/renewal time comes around I may not be able to keep this ? Pretty sure upgrade handset will likely mean new T&C, i.e. smaller data limit, not the 3GB T-mobile used to throw at Android handsets :(
This looks nice, but I will not be going for 24-month contract under any circumstances - need shiny new things in 12-18 months ;) Still, not even sure what handset to change to in December anyway......nothing currently out there is that much of a marked improvement over my Desire - sure, SGS2 looks nice et al., but still not all that much more, really....

Indeed, it's crap that this is only until September.

I am also on the 3GB package atm but obviously I won't be able to keep this when the Upgrade is due in November. Hopefully they will have some decent data package available in the future as I'm regularly using over 500MB every month recently.

BE AWARE - These new contracts with unlimited data are capped to 3G speeds (380kb/s) Even if you have a full HSDPA signal you will get no more that 350kb/s.

I have had to make lots of phone calls and 2 e-mail complaints to get my HSDPA unlocked for free!

3G speeds may be ok if you want to just use facebook but if you plan on watching youtube or flash content etc.. it is very slow!

Now that's ^^ not nice :(
Quite annoying, these networks and their data-restricting habits.....I mean, really, perhaps one of them could make a mark and offer decent and equitable terms for data ! No doubt the world is getting more connected by the day, and - if anything - data tariffs are getting more small-print~y all the time !

Please don't think I'm calling you out on this but do you have any proof? I can't find the speed restriction on the T&Cs for T-Ms deal and while it has been on certain packages in the past, I'm not so sure they'd limit it going forward due to the network expansion efforts. There is a limit to concurrent HSDPA links per site etc... and other factors that can apply.

Isn't this only if bought from 3rd parties? Can you provide something confirming this is the case even if bought direct from T Mobile.

If it is indeed correct then it's pretty terrible.

Baffles me why broadband and mobile phone companies are about the only thing in the world who can get away with selling one thing but delivering something else.

If it says unlimited... thats what I want. no restrictions.... AT ALL....

As for the 3rd part thing, I'm not sure I did hear that from another source. So you may be ok if you buy direct.

Someone else would need to comment who bought direct.

AnyOne taking one of these new data tariffs out and can they confirm the speeds they get as I'm on the 3gb fup plan but obv limited to 1.8mbs so just wondering with these new plans are we looking at faster speeds.

This is more likely because of your handset / the network tower only putting out 1.8MBit, HSDPA speeds vary depending on customer density, setup and weather etc...

RE the speed issue have a look at hot uk deals and look for the t mobile sim only threads. You can see all the people there that have got unlimited internet and got only 3g speeds.

PS how do i check what deal im on? I get hsdpa speeds but dont know of my cap?
