T Mobile Unlimited Data

RE the speed issue have a look at hot uk deals and look for the t mobile sim only threads. You can see all the people there that have got unlimited internet and got only 3g speeds.

PS how do i check what deal im on? I get hsdpa speeds but dont know of my cap?

what speed are you getting?
 
BE AWARE - These new contracts with unlimited data are capped to 3G speeds (380kb/s) Even if you have a full HSDPA signal you will get no more that 350kb/s.

I have had to make lots of phone calls and 2 e-mail complaints to get my HSDPA unlocked for free!

3G speeds may be ok if you want to just use facebook but if you plan on watching youtube or flash content etc.. it is very slow!

I called T-mobile and even to a technician but they said there is not problem with my account.

I logged into my account and under services it says "Capped Data Rate"

I've run speeds tests from around the city and despite having HSDPA signal, i always get 0.35Mbps. My yet my ping is great for a mobile 100ms.

It's clearly capped.
 
Limited bandwidth is limited?

I'm not fussed, my home ADSL can only do 500kb/s so 350 is enough for how I use my phone.

The "Capped Data Rate" in the account doesn't mean that your speed is capped. It means that your data rate is capped to £1 per day should you lose your unlimited data allowance some how.
 
Indeed, it's crap that this is only until September.

I am also on the 3GB package atm but obviously I won't be able to keep this when the Upgrade is due in November. Hopefully they will have some decent data package available in the future as I'm regularly using over 500MB every month recently.

I signed up recently to a £25 a month contact unlimited with no FUP. There is no mention anywhere that it's only until September. I down loaded the terms just in case there is a dispute.

If ya can find out why ya capped at 375kbs that would be good, also are you sure your on the new 24 month £25+ unlimted data unlimited gigabytes? i spoke to online sales and they say ive got a 7 day cooling off to try but if its capped at 3g speeds then it will go back, i currently am capped at 1.8 with 3gb fup but i only pay £7.50 per month till October so looking to what i will do then.
 
Yes i'm positive i'm on the right package, signed up a few days ago, it's a brand new account. Spoke to customer services 3 times now. Still not resolved. That latest one said that my account had older settings on it and she switched it over to the new settings and refreshed the account. Made sod all difference.

I just went and stood next to the T-Mobile UMTS mast and still only got the exact same speed.

Edit: 4th conversation. I need to log the data speed site i'm testing on and post code. Needs to be in a few different locations, a least one hour apart. Then report back tomorrow for an engineer to luck into it.

Re edit: 5th conversation - Just had a call back from the lady i spoke to on my second call, she was checking that i'm happy that are trying to get to the bottom of it. Like the lady in the fourth conversation she has also txt me her email address.

The speed may suck at the moment, but CS do seem to be trying to help.

ive messaged ya my number as my speeds are capped at 1.8mbs but i do always get 1750kbs aroubd but never 350kbs or below. adv them of my speeds and see if they can see difference.
 
They said 5 working days, so i should hear back either Tuesday or wednesday.

T-Mobile only have one UMTS mast in my city, which i went and stood next too. Anyway, are 3 still sharing all their UMTS masts with T-mobile?
 
i dont really know about that, reading the info on the net i hear they share the sites where the masts are but not the signal, so three and t mob are totally serperate signals but have there masts in the same spots.
 
Still not sorted. My 6th conversation with them today.

They haven't heard back from the engineer, and it's been escalated to German.

Network average speeds for T-mobile UK customers is 1.7Mbps according to the Technical support guy i spoke to.
 
Looking at the net some guy said to them my wife gets 1.8mbs and I get 380 with his, obv he had both phones on him so proved it was not signal problems, then they looked into the accounts and could see the slow account didn't have web and walk plus enabled so they enabled that and then the speeds increased instantly, it's just t mobile playing silly buggers. I would have threatened them if not done in 24hours it's going back upder dsr.

They said that there are no signal problems in my area too. So it's quite odd.

I'll wait until Wednesday next week then write to the executive office.

I had the same problem, phone gave me "H" speeds with a PAYG SIM but "3g" speeds with my contract SIM

After several phone calls / visits to T-Mobile shop a techy finaly spotted that the wrong box had been ticked in my account configuration (at their end)
 
Still trying to get them to enable proper speeds on my contract with "unlimited net" from buymobiles. They honestly dont have a clue what im on about.
