Im currently a t-mobile customer, and my contract expires in may, so im looking to upgrade my phone+tarriff next month.

I noticed the "25% off line rental - for life" offer, and thought that seemed pretty damned good, but surprise surprise, i've been told that i can't get that, because its for new customers only.

So now im going to have to leave t-mobile, and re-join, and thus loose my number in the process.... soo..... i'm thinking of doing this:

Not renewing my current t-mob contract (which expires in may) then porting my number over to an Orange PAYG SIM, THEN, signing up for the t-mob flext tarriff (thus, getting the 25% off) THEN finally porting my Orange number, back over to t-mobile (!!!!)

It's annoying, and long winded, but can anyone see a flaw with that plan?

Also, would any t-mob employees be able to hint, as to whether or not, the "25% off line rental - for life" offer will still be around in May?!

Thanks!!! :D

Because you're taking your number away and bringing it back again, they will know you've been with them before (we keep a track of all numbers that have ever been with us) thus you wouldn't be a new customer.

But I don't work for T but I do work for another one called V. :D

as i work for them, yes it can be done, but orange will have a 3 month policy before leaving them so u would need to stay with them for at least 3 months IIRC

Is there a certain time limit kinda thing in which you cant do that? I've brought my number back to vodafone but only after 2 years lol!

By the way, where do you work, head office?

port to virgin mobile PAG as they use the T-mobile network the swap over should be seemless - recently did this to get a better new customer deal from t-mobile took 2 weeks all in

Can anybody shed any light on this bit?

Port your number to an O2 payg sim, they will then let you port it away straight away.

I was told this by an Orange employee when I asked if I could start a new contract and keep my number. That was the only way to do it apparently.

If I remember it's something like a couple of months but I will try and find out.

And I dont unfortunately just in one of their bigger offices.... random fact: we have a ferrari f1 car on show at head office - but we don't where i work :(

mate, ring their retentions and tell them you're off because you cant get that deal, they'll back down and give you it.

So...... did you find out when the offer might be around until?

Also, i've had a thought... If i sign up for a new contract NOW (while the offer IS still on) whilst keeping my current contract, can i still port my number over to another PAYG SIM, then port the number back at any time? Or can you only port a number over within a certain amount of time after starting the contract?

Posted on sumblime's behalf as he is without net access atm

Well if that's the case, then i'll probably go ahead and order a new phone+contract on the webby next month. But i was wondering (i'm assuming this ISNT the case, but i wanna check anyway). When it comes to entering my billing info, it's not going to say : Bugger off, you're already registered with us? Is it?

Also, one of the questions it asks, is 'are you already a t-mobile customer' then it asks for your number.... why do they need that, and will it make a difference if i give them my current details?

Thanks
