I have just entered my upgrade period on T-Mobile and logged into their website to see what they were offering, which turned out to be a very limited selection of rubbish phones (not even the full range that they do).

Is this a usual tactic of theirs and will I get offered better phones if I call up? I'm not calling just yet because I am not sure what phone I am after, I just need to know if I would be wasting my time with them.

yes, i had a load of rubbish phones on the upgrade thing on the website at the end of March/beginning of April.

i called them and told them a wanted a desire, they put me on a £15 a month plan and i paid £40 for the phone.

i dont think they offer them as cheap now though?

the phones they offered me on the website was also a poor selection. I went into the shop and told them i wanted a desire and to change my plan slightly as i didnt have data before (for the same monthly cost). They got me to phone up the retentions team while i was in the shop to change my plan and then i picked up my desire while i was there. Had to pay for the phone but it was a lot less than they wanted on the upgrade webpage.

i'd definitely recommend giving them a call when you know what phone you want.

 That's a stunning deal.

Call up and you can get great deals. I'm currently paying £5 a month for ~300 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited Internet. The website offered me nothing close to that.

Call up / go in shop you will get better than the website. I dont want to change anything contract wise, just give them money for a new phone...but I cant get anything decent through website.

They did offer the phones for dirt cheap if the monthly payment didn't cover it... i got my i5700 on £10/m for £70, as i remember the Desire was something like £120 on the same plan. The prices have skyrocketed now though :(

Depends if its an early upgrade...tmobile for their loyal customers offer you a 3 mth early upgrade but its not worth it as they limit the phones you can get...whereas within the last month of your contract you have a better selection of phones.

I can upgrade early now but wont get FA ie after the iphone4 to sell but they wont allow me to upgrade to it until end of Sept.

How much do you pay per month?

£100+ a month i pay but that includes calls/texts etc...the tariff im on is the old flext50 plan which they no longer do. But i dont actually pay my bills, my company pays for my mobile phone bills.

It isn't an early upgrade - my contract expires in the middle of september.

Oddly enough I used to get upgrades early as you say, and during may i texted 150 and was told I could have an upgrade in June. When I checked in June it had been changed to August.

I was thinking about going to O2 and getting a Streak, I don't really use the phone for calls - mostly emails, browsing and other stuff. Any thoughts on O2/Streak?

I didn't mean you :p

I meant you, it all depends on what you pay per month? Or what you are willing to pay?

I pay £30 a month basic and then a bit more on top most months, usually works out at £35-40.

It's dependant on your rating with them. A desire would cost me £10
