T-mobile Web & Walk

its funny because when i done a speed test with my k810 it reported to me i was downloading at1.3 Mbps , i tried the same test with 3g turned off and it gave same result.

whats going on here is that the test isn't performed on your phone but the t-mobile proxies.

That's a possiblity , the bandwidthplace site is used by the review sites to check phones so it may ok. All I know for certain is that with HSDPA off I was getting 400-500Kb reported , with it on - 1.4Mb

//edit

Just did a test using bandwidth place.com

with [H] icon displayed , download is reported at 1.7Mb

switched off 3G

with [G] icon displayed , download is reported as 227Kb

switched 3G back on

with [H] icon displayed , download is reported back at 1.7Mb.

I didn't change any settings on the speedtest so it should still be using the same proxies etc

just done a test with 3g on , and BP said i downloaded a 1MB file in 4 seconds resulting in me having a 2.1 Mbps connection.

turned 3g off i got, 2.7 Mbps same file . LOL something not right here.

Something weird going on , turn it on/off multiple times & see how high it goes :D

When I turn off 3G on my Vario II the phone loses the network then spends a 10-15 seconds re-acquiring. After that the Icon stays at [G] .

the ip adress the speedtest reported was 149.254.200.220 , this test was done by my phone.

im not sure if this ip is assigned to my phone or a t mobile proxy, i done a trace route and the route ended in Dusseldorf with some hops remaining. tried to ping it with no response.

the ip certainly is owned by 't mobile one 2 one ' as per lookup.

i don't know why i am being told these speeds when i know 3g isn't capable of this.

According to the data on Wiki
The first phase of HSDPA has been specified in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) release 5. Phase one introduces new basic functions and is aimed to achieve peak data rates of 14.4 Mbit/s (see above). Newly introduced are the High Speed Downlink Shared Channels (HS-DSCH), the adaptive modulation QPSK and 16QAM and the High Speed Medium Access protocol (MAC-hs) in base station.

so it "may" be telling the truth ...........
