Hi.
Does anyone here have or have used, a tablet PC?
Ive been wondering lately (for various reasons ;)), about the viability of using one. Wether they'd be as handy as there cracked up to be, or wether its another revolutionary idea pulled off in an uninspiring and evolutionary way.

Opinions and experiances welcome!

Thanks in advance everyone. :)

I've got a Fujitsu Siemens Life Book, Core Duo one and it's fantastic. So quick and powerful, I've never seen a laptop boot up this quick and perform stressful tasks so well.

Just resized these two large images from portable gimp from a flash usb stick and it was like doing it on my PC.

So light aswell :)

As above, i was playin on with in No competitor talk please! and i was in love, it was great... worth gettin 1 if you can affort one :)

I was looking at the new Thinkpad Tablets, as they have multi-touch screens.

I go through a lot of paper and pens just taking technical notes at home, now i do the same at work, i predict i'd be using even more, so something that'd allow me to digitise my notes and whatnot would be brillient. Somehow i think a PDA would be too small for my needs, so ive been umming and arring over a tablet.

Im not entirely sure on if i'll be able to get a X60Tablet, or even a X41.
So im wondering if a normal PDA, or even a PDA phone would be better.
All three have their advantages & disadvantages.

Tablet:
+Powerful.
+Bigger screen.
+Easyier to write large numbers of notes on.
-Poor battery life.
-Big.
-Not as portable as PDA/Phone.

PDA:
+Small.
+Reasonably powerful.
+Decent battery life.
-Not good for writing lots of notes on.
-Limited software.

PDA Phone:
+Small.
+Good battery life.
+Reduces the number of devices i have to carry.
-If i get a PDA now, 6-9months down the line i'd have to scrap it as i want a iPhone.
-I already have a K800.
-Not exactely an ideal device for taking on nights out.

Opinions everyone? :)

My pentablet is my work pentablet and we used to use PDA's.

Battery life on this is exceptional, but then again I'm running two batteries (another one which slides into the DVDRW slot). They are brilliant and I've noticed a sharp rise in better communications between my team and other teams.

I personally hated my PDA for xcel documents etc and hate trying to email on it even more.

I'm not sure how much this weighs but I cradle it in one arm for up to an hour at a time and I'm fine, no aching arms or anything.

What about something in between a pda and a laptop like a Samsung Q1 ultra mobile pc.

They look butt ugly and afaik, dont have touch screens. :p

Its an odd decision really. As a tablet would be fine, as 8/10 it would stay in my office, acting simply as a notepad, that i can occasionally take to meetings, or to make notes. But it wouldnt be something i'd want to carry around with my constantly.
I suppose the decision would be made significantely easyier once i find out what my options are. :p
